idea generation & development of my digipak
initial ideas
Before designing my digipak I researched previous digipaks of my album, in order for there to be a synergy between my own product and that of the band Kodaline. I found that they used a lot of serene images of nature and the outdoors throughout there cd covers and posters. Therefore, when I came to design my digipak and poster I decided to focus on things that weren't man-made which would create synergy with my product and the previous work of the band.
The initial sketches of my digipak focused on very natural things, such as the sea, the beach, greenery, and the eyes of my protagonist. Alongside creating a synergy with the band, it also also important to create a strong synergy with my other products, such as the music video and the poster. By doing this, the audience can establish a link between the products and upon seeing them will immediately recognise that it is linked to the other products. I wanted my digipak to feature the main locations in my music video, and it should include the places that were most significant to my character. These were inside of the bath, where the narrative starts and finishes, along with the graveyard, the beach, and the sea. I chose to incorporate the significant locations from the music video into my digipak as they were all natural, which would create a synergy not only with the music video but also with Kodaline's products, which all feature outdoor imagery.

eyes
A key image in my music video is the eyes of my protagonist. I wanted to use her eyes for the front cover, as they are a main focus within my video. It is thought that the eyes are a gateway into the soul, and I wanted the audience to be able to empathise with my character and connect with her; this would make them more attached to my products, which means they would sell more effectively.
trees/lens flare
I wanted to use woodland imagery and lens flares as they are frequently used in Kodaline products, and they reflect the inner beauty of the protagonist of my video.
water & the beach
Both water and the beach played a very prominent role in my music video, and was significant in my protagonists journey throughout the video. The bath scenes were important, as it is not only where the narrative starts but also where it ends, which is why I chose to use it as the album cover.
