how did you use media technologies in the construction, research, planning and evaluation stages?

practice edits of titles, fonts, and quick selection tool
Here you can see my first Photoshop edits, where I experimented with titles and using the quick selection tool to place my subject on a different background. When experimenting, I considered different fonts and their compatibility, and learnt how to use the kerning tool to change the space between the letters and words. I began to consider synergy and the effect that this would have, and as you can see I have kept a synergy between these two practice products. This is done through the fonts, the images, and the name of the album, which are the same apart from the location has been changed to suit the content of the album.

using the quick selection tool
When learning to use Photoshop, one of the first things I did was learning how to take part of an image and layer it on a different background. I practiced by making a poster for an album and artist I made up.
1) After opening my file, I used the quick selection tool to cut around my subject roughly, creating a layer mask of the cut that I had just made.
After refining the edges, my cut out had smooth edges and could be transferred onto a background.
I re-positioned my subject so that she wasn't in the center but to the bottom right rule of thirds.
I added the album name and some extra details before deciding on the fonts and using the kerning tool to change the space between the lettering.

2) I removed the background, and then went on to refine the edges of the mask.
I opened my two files next to each other, one with my background and one with my cut out, and dragged the cut out on top of the background
I then went on to add the artist name, in large bold letters in the empty space at the top of my poster.
I was then left with my final product which you can see above.

social networking
Throughout the process of planning, researching and constructing my products I have used social networking to aid my progress.Social network sites like Tumblr, Twitter, and Facebook were extremely beneficial when it came to getting feedback from my audiences. I was able to share my surveys and products in order to gain responses from people and develop my final product regarding their comments.
online websites
Online websites played a crucial part in helping me to develop and create my products.
I used Google as my main web browser throughout the process of creating my products. It was essential in the research stages, where I was able to obtain information by 'Google-ing' any information I was uncertain on, or if I wanted to do any further research into something. Google gave me access to all of other online websites instantly, so therefore played an important role within the development of my work.

Using survey monkey allowed me to create surveys throughout the process that would help me to understand my audience's opinions on my work and other work. I could also establish my target audience using survey monkey, as I shared my survey on social networking and was able to get responses which would help me discover which age range had which desires and preferences for a music video.

Screencast o' matic enabled me to film my screen, which was useful when evaluating my work. I was able to produce tutorials on how I had made my work and reflect on what I had made. For example, I was able to film myself working on Photoshop to show how I created a layer mask, which I used in my final Poster for my ancillary tasks.

YouTube was an essential website throughout my production process. When researching, I was able to look at music videos to inspire my own video and help me to understand the codes and conventions within the music video industry, and specifically which were used for each genre. Alongside this I could research famous auteurs instead of reading through Wikipedia, and become more personally connected with them by watching interviews and examples of their work. I was able to download the videos and compile my own montage of music videos to create a codes and conventions video exploring the codes and conventions of the indie genre, and a montage of David FIncher's work to show my research into famous auteur. YouTube also enabled me to share my work for my audience to see, where I could gain responses on my work by sharing it on social media. I was able to upload other videos such as tutorials and out-take videos to put onto my portfolio to make it interesting and give people an insight into how I made my music video and ancillary tasks.
