what have you learnt from your audience feedback?
pre-production
audience feedback on my video
The audience feedback I received on my music video helped me to get clarity on the product I had produced and discover if I had met my audience's expectations when creating my music video. It was evident from my feedback that the majority of my target audience enjoyed my music video, and found themselves becoming emotionally attached to the narrative and specifically the subject of my story. The use of multiple camera and editing techniques had helped them to become move involved with the music video and my audience had found it visually pleasing, particularly the moment that linked the visuals and lyrics, which followed Goodwin's music video theory. However, there were a few continuity issues such as when my subject is walking down the beach, the angle changes and she is closer to the water then before. In the future I would try to be more precise when editing and make sure that the continuity is more refined to ensure that my video runs smoothly and the connection between my video and audience is not broken. Another problem recognized by my target audience was the costume. During the car scene, my protagonist was meant to look promiscuous as she was selling herself on the street. However, due to the cold weather my actress was wearing children's themed gloves. When filming I was unaware that the gloves were in the shot and how obvious they were, so in the future I would need to be more aware of the mise-en-scene and the effect that this would have on my audience. Despite this, the overall reaction to my music video was positive, as the majority of my audience felt emotionally attached to the video and found it thought provoking, making my music video a success with my target audience.
audience feedback on my ancillary tasks
By receiving audience feedback on my ancillary tasks, I was again able to see if my products reached my audience's expectations. It was evident from the feedback that my poster and digipak were successful in creating the ghostly and alienated atmosphere to show the loneliness of my subject. However, I could have improved the font in order to make the information more clear on my digipak, as it was not as clear as it should have been.
